Maria Sharapova was born in a family of Uri Sharapov and his wife, Yelena. Sharapov family lived in Gomel (Belarus) and then moved to Nyagan (Russia) after Chernobyl nuclear accident in 1986. Soon the family resided in Sochi and there Uri Sharapov got acquainted with Aleksandr Kafelnikov, a father of a famous Russian tennis player Yevgeny Kafelnikov. Aleksandr was fond of tennis and Uri Sharapov very often played with him. One day he took small Maria to the court and she took a tennis racquet in her hands. It was actually the start of Maria Sharapova long term love affair with tennis.

Her father played the key role in Maria’s career. When Maria Sharapova was just 8, her father Uri took the girl to Florida to train in a Tennis Academy. Till now Uri supports his daughter, visits each her match and cheers her up.

Maria Sharapova parents got divorced. Her mother Yelena is not a frequent guest at Maria’s matches and contests. She never gives interviews and tries to stay incognito at various parties, devoted to her extremely talented daughter. Yelena was 27, when Maria and Uri moved to USA. A mother and a daughter didn’t see each other during 2 years and spoke on phone very rarely. It was painful for Maria, but she liked playing tennis so much, that was ready to make such a sacrifice.

It is not known, what Maria’s parents say about a drug scandal, in which their famous daughter was involved. But surely, they support a daughter, who was suspended and has to make a pause in her career for now.

In any case, Maria Sharapova is a persistent person, she is a winner and she does everything to achieve her goals in both, professional and personal life.

But if in professional life the tennis star is the best from the best, in love she is not a winner. Maria Sharapova working schedule is so intensive, that she has no time for personal life. She was busy with various tennis contests during 11 months per year. One month of the rest she spends for travelling. Maria Sharapova was dating Sasha Vujacic, a basketball pro player from Slovenia, but they broke up. Both tell that the reason is their tight schedule, when the sport stars hadn’t seen each other for moths, living in various countries.

Now Maria is officially single, but she tells that the main dream in her life is to become a happy wife and a mother. We wish the tennis star to realize her dream!
