The first body transformation Christian Bale experienced in 2000.

In 2000, Christian Bale got his dream-role in a film American Psycho. The image of a young narcissistic maniac had to be performed by Leonardo DiCaprio, but the star at the last minute chose another project – film The Beach.

So, Bale had a chance, but there were a few problems. According to the plot, the guy looked perfect, but the actor could not boast with a splendid body. To change smile was a piece of cake (although Christian still says that he misses his “English teeth”). But the point with the body was more complicated.

Bale had a year and a half to get ready. He began go in the gym, and then he gave up because he did not know what to do … He’s an Englishman, and they do not go to the gym – they go to the pub! The actor did not know anything about diet. But his hero was Dorian Gray of XX century, and he should have looked like a picture. Finally, six weeks before filming, Bale was assigned a personal trainer-supervisor. Those 42 days he worked 3 hours a day and ate only what was said.

All in all, his role was a success and the actor looks amazing with his new pumped body.

Extreme weight loss for the role’s sake.

Batman and Terminator star, Christian Bale, tests himself with inhuman experiments that not everyone can repeat. However, his stories are going to be good for you, if you are going to lose weight, to swing, to drive the Batmobile, dance or fight in the streets.

Christian Bale, despite roles in such films as Batman and Terminator is a serious dramatic actor. However, the first thing you notice in his film The Machinist (2004) is not Bale’s talent but his thinness. Here you can see more photos.

Christian’s hero is a man who had not slept almost a year and did not eat. At the casting, the actor demonstrated his muscles weighing 83 kg (with the height of 183 cm), but 4 months later he appeared as a walking skeleton on the set. The actor dropped 28 kilograms. It seemed that play his role Christian wanted more than eat.

Within four months he ate less and less, and thus the actor reduced his stomach. He also drunk a lot of water in order to not to feel hunger. Bale learned how to discipline himself. Several times he gave up, but with time it was easier to adhere to the “diet”.

Christian saved energy: he became more selective in the choice of activities. At the same time, he became more patient. Our mood changes depending on the food we eat, but it is stable regarding such thinness. Of course, it was not much fun to him, but the actor exuded calm.

When a man rejects food at all, a male of Bale’s build loses 400 grams per day. Consequently, the actor still ate something; otherwise the result would be quite different. Nevertheless, from the point of view of physiology and biochemistry, it is called starvation – he consumed, according to some estimates, no more than 300-400 calories a day!

Bale admitted that he didn’t go to the doctor during that weight loss. Only in the beginning of the diet, he found a nutritionist and asked what vitamins he would lack, so Christian took them throughout his diet.

How to gain weight up to 100 kg if you weigh 55? Ask Christian Bale.

The most amazing thing was that just after 6 weeks after the last double in The Machinist, the 55-pound Bale had probation for the role of the darkest robust fellow in the film Batman. And again, Christian decided that nothing was impossible: that time he ate five pizzas and a bucket of ice cream at every meal.

However, that time Bale’s organism resisted his habits. Bale even had to call an ambulance for a few times – the actor had heart attacks and panic attacks. Why?

The amount of food consumed was several times more that the organism required, so as a result, it simply could not be digested and rotted in the stomach. Rotting producted toxic gases (methane, for example) and they were absorbed into the blood rendering toxic effect.

And yet, at the beginning of the shooting of Batman, under a rubber suit, the hero hid quite great muscles. So how did you do this, Chris?

At the first workout, a coach, a former boxing champion, asked Christian to do several exercises. The actor sank to the floor and stayed there lying. The director at the time was in England, while Bale was in Los Angeles. He called and asked Christian to become as bigger and stronger as possible. Chris said that just to raise the hands in the Batman costume he had to be very strong. The pushed the barbell as many times per day as he could never imagine.

Finally, when Bale came to England, he was told that he was even too huge and pumped as for Batman. Actually, Christian had to lose 15 kg of muscle mass! Still, Chris Bale looked like a huge bear.
